Curious of what’s inside some of your household cleaners? Phthalates, Perchloroethylene or “Perc”, Triclosan, Quarternary Ammonium Compounds or “Quats, Butozyethanol, Ammonia, Chlorine, and Sodium Hydroxide are just a few dangerous toxins you find in your cleaners. Each one has a health side effect that range from mild to serious. Some include, severe skin burns, sore throats that last for days, respiratory irritant, thyroid disrupter, can develop chronic bronchitis and asthma, narcosis, pulmonary edema, severe liver and kidney damage, dizziness, loss of coordination and reduced sperm count for men.

Here are some homemade household cleaner recipes you can use to clean your house and keep your good health at the same time. What a concept! *These are not my recipes but some I found that have good reviews and want to try or some I have already used and liked!*

Air Freshner:

Glass Spray Bottle

10 drops of Cleansing Blend Essential Oil per 8 oz of water

5 drops of Lavender Essential Oil per 8 oz of water

a pinch of Epsom salt

8 oz water or more (remember to double your oils if you double your water)

Glass Cleaner

1/4 – 1/2 tsp Liquid Castille Soap

3 tbsp Vinegar

2 cups Water

10 drops of Essential oil of choice (Peppermint, Lemon, or Wild Orange)

Glass spray bottle

Multi Purpose Cleaner

2 tbsp of Protective Blend Concentrate per spray bottle

24 oz of Water

Spray Bottle


16 oz glass spray bottle

1/4 cup white vinegar

1 3/4 cups water

30 drops of essential oil (Lavender and Lemon, Eucalyptus Peppermint and Orange, Protective Blend, or Grapefruit and Protective Blend)

1 tsp of borax

DIY Carpet Freshener and Deodorizer

1 cup of baking soda

10-15 drops of essential oil (recommended: Lavender, Lemon, Lime, Tea Tree, Protective Blend, Cleansing Blend, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, or Rosemary)

A jar to hold it in

Mix ingredients until well blended. Store in jar. When using sprinkle on carpet let sit for an hour (the longer the better) than vacuum the area.
