We’ve talked about happy and stimulating oils for when you’re down or need a pick me up. Now let’s talk about oils that are calming and/or good for sleeping. At the end of a long day your body is physically exhausted and screaming at you to go to bed, but when you do your brain doesn’t cooperate and it won’t stop thinking. Or maybe it’s the opposite way around for others. I think it’s safe to say we’ve all been there and if you haven’t, I hate you. Just kidding, but seriously, how lucky you are to be you!
One of my favorites that I use every night before I go to bed is Balance. This essential oil promotes whole body relaxation and evokes feelings of tranquility and balance. I rub this oil on the bottom of my feet and sometimes diffuse it too. Another essential oil I use every night is Lavender. Inhaling Lavender promotes relaxation and a restful night’s sleep. I like to put Lavender on my temples and the back of my neck, this eases muscle tension and you also receive the benefits from smelling it.
I like to use the Calming Blend Essential oil on my 2 year old. This is a blend of Lavender Flower, Sweet Marjoram Leaf, Roman Chamomile Flower, Ylang Ylang Flower, Hawaiian Sandalwood essential oils and Vanilla Bean Absolute. It has a Sweet, warm, powdery smell. This calming blend is known to calm the mind, relax the body, and soothe the soul, providing a safe haven from life’s daily stressors.
In the picture you will notice more oils like Roman Chamomile, Vetiver, Frankincense, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood, they too can also help to calm your mind and body. Keep in mind that every person is different and their reaction to each oil may not be the same. While Lavender may work for you, your sister may do better with Roman Chamomile. That’s what I love about essential oils, there are tons of options for you to choose from.
So the next time you are lying in bed with a mind that won’t shut down or a body that can’t relax, try opening that bottle of Lavender or Sandalwood to help you get the beauty sleep that you need and deserve! Or maybe you are a stay at home mom and your kids are driving you crazy (although that never happens to me, yea right!). Rub some of the grounding blend on the bottom of your feet or diffuse/inhale some Sandalwood to feel grounded and at peace. Your family may thank you for it. 🙂
What essential oil do you use to help you calm down or sleep?
